Like I shared on insta, these sweats are THE BOMB. You can wear them with wedges and a classy shirt or like today don slippers and a fabulous sweatshirt.
I know, I can’t even wear a ratty sweatshirt, but hey, what is my motto: casualty of casual. I may have been relaxed and comfy, but I would have felt completely ok wearing this outfit in public – sans slippers.
Of course what’s a cozy outfit without a cute cup of tea in an anthro mug. This pattern is my weakness. So much I have it in several colors!
Don’t forget socks. Wool. Cozy. All the makings of a wonderfully cozy day.
I’m glad to be back after a week long intensive course! So after sleeping away the morning I took to tea and my planner, because planning has nothing casual about it.
You do not have to have a big fancy tea set to drink tea fancily! This cup and saucer was at Goodwill.
I chose the Passion Planner this year to help me keep my life organized, set some goals, and also at the same time be flexible. What I love about it is there’s so much room for possibility – in fact there is a section that is the “Space of Infinite Possibilities”!
So today to catch up planning and re-center I pulled out these cute stickers! The colors just pop and they add some great nostalgia to the black and white pages. They can be a great surprise or a marker for special events. I like using them on Mondays when it’s easy to get blue and goal marker dates!
So here’s to planning and goals!
It is so easy to just throw on yoga pants & a tee to travel, but in mindfulness of choosing to be creative and control the casual, I compromise with my favorite lived in jeans, bralette & simple top.
The key is that each piece is equally as comfortable and livable as a tee & yoga pants, but with the added class of these ankle boots I was able to hop out of the car and go after traveling.
Simple jewelry that I can wear with all of my outfits for the trip made it easy to pack and still feel more dressed up in casual clothes.
The perfect pair of jeans and you will wonder why you just *had to* wear those yoga pants (and just a hint these babes from LOFT were absolutely affordable).
We are all at risk of the casualty of casual.
It is easy to not think
When life is lived casually there is a lethargy that seeps into everything from clothing choices, friendships, relationships, & faith.
We are ALL at fault for living casually. It is the modern lifestyle. It is the rise of athleisure. Don’t get me wrong, I love athleisure! The problem is it can easily become another door for casual to cause a casualty to the beloved wardrobe, to self expression.
So that is why my blog is taglined ‘casualty of casual’. I am exploring the focused combat against the control casual can have on life when we choose not to use the vast imagination of our mind.
Choose not to settle with me. Lets use our power to create change, make things our own – requiring more than a casual life.

So in southern climates we have to learn the artful tactic of layering. In the winter it can be chilly in the morning and then hit the 70’s by 1 o’clock. So I took one of my brothers old button ups to layer over this tank from Madewell.
Roll up the sleeves and matched with dark skinny jeans and leather booties and its effortless casual style. It does not take too much thought to put together a classy casual style, it just takes figuring out what things work together. You do not have to let the casualty of casual get to you.
When you find the right clothes and match them to your closet you can have an equally comfortable & classy outfit without sacrificing style.
When it gets hot just take off the button up and tie it around your waist – no problem!
New Year’s Eve is here and sequins are a must. There is no doubt about it that it’s my favorite thing to find an excuse to wear sequins. Blame it on the theatrical blood in me or my affection for glitter, but there’s something just dazzling about sequins in a NYE outfit.
This year I wanted to be able to start the sparkle early in the day so I chose this casual mock turtleneck top to wear with this golden sequin skirt (the pockets are ever so convenient). It’s a great outfit to take from daytime to night with only a change of venue.
Of course what is an outfit without accessories? Pearls keep the class but the double & midi bring on the sass. And do not forget about the fitbit, to motivate for another year of healthy living!
Simple shirt, simple accessories, simple classic shoes, and a kickin skirt make this outfit perfect for NYE festivities.

In the end, NYE is a great day of reflection and preparation for a new year of goals, hopes, dreams, and lots of glitter. So welcome to this new venture of mine and here’s to 2017!
